Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has always maintained a commitment to sustainability-related issues, therefore we believe that Kids Non-Profit Organization's (KNPO) program of children's road safety will fit into the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles global marketing and CSR engagement.
Children do not possess the same abilities as adults to judge distances, speed and direction of vehicles, making it imperative to build and reinforce road safety practices. Most accidents occur during the evening or dark hours.
Our strategy is to distribute reflective beads for them to make bracelets or necklaces, while providing road safety instruction. By combining instruction with personally-made handiwork we reach straight into the heart of these children to give them ownership of their safety.
KNPO's reflective beads are 100% bio-based with a carbon footprint 3-4 times lower than traditional plastics and fully biodegradable, as well as non-toxic, even safe for food contact.
If children wear reflective beads in the evening, they will be seen from five times further away than without, giving drivers crucial time to stop or swerve around.
If we teach them road safety and how to maneuver in the traffic, we ensure that more youth come home from school at the end of the day.
